Introduction to "Digital Literacy" Program Theory and Implementation Plan
Research in the area of digital literacy will address the following items:
• Definition of “digital literacy”
• Identify and document existing practices
• Identify important groups, entities and stakeholders in the field
• Identify experts in the field
• Compare and contrast traditional “literacy” practices, values and assumptions to “digital literacy” practices, values and assumptions.
• Document demographic information in relationship to digital literacy
• Compare and contrast North American trends, needs and practices to global trends, needs and practices
• Identify digital literacy needs in relationship to social, cultural, and economic values
Research volunteers and staff will document their findings using the OWL Institute website, enabling staff and volunteers to access, analyze and evaluate information. Documentation includes summaries, definitions, explanations, links, listings, evaluations and recommendations. Research is completed when sufficient information is gathered to enable staff and volunteers to create a white paper of best practices, recruit members for advisory board, communicate with field experts, develop program theory and implementation plan for project development.
